Black Chana Stir Fry - Black gram urad dal

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup black chana (chickpeas), soaked overnight
  2. 1 onion, chopped
  3. 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  4. 1/2 tsp. ginger, grated
  5. 2 green chilies, chopped
  6. 1 tbsp oil
  7. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  8. pinch asafoetida
  9. to taste salt
  10. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1 tsp. cumin powder
  12. For garnish
  13. As needed Lemon veggies
  14. As needed Onion rings
  15. as needed coriander leaves

Steps

  1. Pressure cook the chana for 5-6 whistles till soft. Drain and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and temper with cumin seeds and asafoetida.
     
     
  2. Then add the onion, garlic, ginger and green chilies and saute till light brown.
     
     
  3. Add the boiled chana, salt, turmeric powder and cumin powder and fry for a minute or two. Serve, garnished with coriander leaves, onion rings, lemon wedges and chilies.
